The honing of her life’s work, utilizing Authentic Movement as an awareness practice to cultivate Truth Living is informed by her dedication and decades of in-depth study in Authentic Movement, which led her to pursue a MA in Somatic Counseling Psychotherapy from Naropa University.

Her many years of personal focused movement inquiry; stepping into contact improvisation through the body of Authentic Movement has yielded a rich landscape of work investigating CI as a relational awareness practice, a laboratory to witness and re-awaken attachment preferences and as a ritual space where the dance is the creative metaphor transforming and feeding life.

She is an avid contact improviser, authentic mover, massage therapist, somatic counselor, and spiritual practitioner. After years of studying/teaching these forms separately, she is excited to bring them together, birthing new integrative practices that support radical human realness, and nourishing human connection.

She is one of the Core organizing members of the thriving Boulder Contact Lab, where she facilitates community growth and depth in dancing, and co-authored the lab “Guidelines”, intended to bring more consciousness to the shadow aspects of CI (recently featured in Contact Quarterly.) She danced and studied for many years with the Lower Left Performance Collective community, has practiced Authentic Movement in various places in various ways, and makes most of her money loving people for a living, as a bodyworker. She is currently a student of the Hakomi method of experiential psychotherapy, and the Diamond Approach to inner realization.

Deepening the Dance – Lindsay Sworski & Kim Nelson http://2010.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/deepening-the-dance/ http://2010.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/deepening-the-dance/#comments Sat, 24 Apr 2010 11:19:55 +0000 http://2010.touchandplay.org/?page_id=1138 INFUSING CONTACT IMPROVISATION WITH AUTHENTIC MOVEMENT

Please join us as we explore the magic chemistry of Contact Improvisation and Authentic Movement. In this workshop we will track between inner and outer, self and other, body and soul – as we open to the dance that dances us! Here we will explore making love with impermanence, physically embodying the unknown, letting go of what we think Contact Improvisation looks like, what we think should happen, and who we think we are. Transcending its classification as a sport or an art, we invite you to enter CI as an awareness practice in relationship, a way to live. Join us beyond objectification, where dancers become living subjects, pulsing with awareness, filled with volition, articulating their wisdom, and having the time of their lives.

We will imbue CI with with essential elements of Authentic Movement: ritual space, cultivation of inward presence, listening and waiting for our inner impulses, clear tracking and articulation of our experience in the dance, and opening to seeing/sensing the other, just as they see and sense us. This workshop is great for CI beginners navigating how to stay connected to their truth in the wilderness of a CI jam, and perfect for experienced dancers who are longing to bring their full human selves into their dance.

Relational Awareness Practice – Lindsay Sworski & Kim Nelson http://2010.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/relational-awareness-practice/ http://2010.touchandplay.org/what/workshops/relational-awareness-practice/#comments Sat, 24 Apr 2010 11:15:00 +0000 http://2010.touchandplay.org/?page_id=1134 EXPLORING THE SUBJECTIVITY OF RELATIONSHIP

Move and be moved along the continuum of creative impulse between self and other, inner to outer awareness. This laboratory/workshop draws from the essence of Authentic Movement to practice and strengthen subjectivity. Subjectivity is explored in Authentic Movement through deep inner listening and cultivating patience in waiting to follow an impulse to move or open to being moved. It is from this state of awareness that we surrender to what we think we need to get out of the relationship and drop into the gift of nuanced complexity of being in relationship. As in the form of Authentic Movement, one will be asked to track their experience as closely as possible. It is through this tracking of physical, sensory, emotional, cognitive and spiritual experience that we are deeply practicing mindfulness of relationship and engaging our subjectivities in that experience of tracking. After the moving period, movers will come together to share their experience of being a subject in relationship. Movers will be encouraged to track and speak as clearly as they can only of their experience in the movement, whether in solo practice or in relationship with other movers. It is this practice of speaking from “I” statements and speaking of only knowing one’s own experience that helps to cultivate a sense of linkage of experience among differentiation of selves(Siegel).

Without perception there is no communication, the contact arises at the edge, though we can find the expression of the moment by the dialog with another body. By dancing we turn into story-tellers whose bodies create an affair of the between, clasped by moments of spirituality.

Gregor Weber and delta RA’i descend from Butoh dance and developed an inner voyage approach to improvised dance and contact through their Contact Field Research.

We will use simple Contact Improvisation techniques together with the expressive form of Butoh to create a scurrile dialog in feeling fields.
We will examine these fields by taking positions, expressing feelings, jumping into emotions. We will also become aware that a little taste of dominance and submission will make us more playful.…

Open Labs http://2010.touchandplay.org/what/open-labs/ http://2010.touchandplay.org/what/open-labs/#comments Sat, 13 Feb 2010 15:48:34 +0000 http://2010.touchandplay.org/?page_id=1058 During the festival there will be an open space for participant directed lab work. Contact Labs are semi-structured learning situations which focus more specifically on the development of the practice than Jams. As such, there is more explicit attention on discussion and feedback at the Lab. Labs at the T&P Festival will be both theoretical or practical with subjects both more or less related to CI. Lab spaces are limited and will be awarded to the most interesting and popular ideas. We invite you to submit your concepts in the comment box below or bring them with you and post them on the board provided at the festival for that purpose.
