Irmela Kästner
Irmela Kästner is a freelance author, curator and lecturer in the field of dance, performance and movement studies, living in Hamburg/Germany. She studied psychology in Germany and has a MA in dance therapy and movement analysis from Laban Centre London.
She initiated research projects on movement analysis and development of creativity in the contexts of psychiatry as well as in dance and theater studies. She publishes regularly in magazines like tanz-journal and wrote the book Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker – Meg Stuart on two of the most acclaimed contemporary choreographers. As artistc co-director of Tanzinitiative Hamburg she curates festivals, laboratories and performance project in contemporary dance.
